May 2023 Board Meeting with Supervisor Foust's Office

In early May 2023, three PHCA board members (Scott Moore, Allie Nickler, and Steve Tierney) met with Supervisor John Foust, his Chief of Staff Jane Edmondson, and Tim Hackment, the Dranesville District Representative to the Fairfax County Park Authority Board. We brought with us questions gathered from board members over the prior two months, and questions raised at PHCA community meetings in March and April.

We had a very productive discussion over the course of 60 minutes with all three of them, first covering items that we wanted to discuss with Supervisor Foust. He then had to leave for another meeting, and we continued on with Ms. Edmondson and Mr. Hackman for another 40 minutes or so.

In advance of the meeting, we sent over our questions and notes, and they showed up at the meeting with notes on responses already prepared. A PDF of the notes and their responses is available at the link below. PHCA's questions are in bold, and their responses are in regular type, sometimes in red.

Update: The poorly patched road near the intersection of Peabody Dr and Griffith Road has been fixed! We mentioned this during our meeting and followed up with them after the meeting with pictures. They raised the issue with VDOT, and it was repaired about 3-4 weeks later, after spending over a year getting more and more degraded (the incident that caused the digging in the road and the poor road surface repair that followed it happened in early May 2022).

3T MetroBus survives!

Metro received close to 30,000 responses from customers about proposed changes to fares, service and hours. This feedback was considered by Metro's Board and Management to make tough decisions on how to rightsize service, close a budget gap, and provide needed time for preventive maintenance. While the original proposal called for complete elimination of the 3T Route, the final decision leaves the current route and timetable as-is without any changes.
